A complete foodie, curiosity makes me chase anything that is related to food. And restaurants. Curiosity may kill the cat, but it landed in front of me a wonderful article about the Red Lobster restaurants. Now, usually articles about restaurants are about food. This was not. So I was going to cancel the tab when the video started. Through the span of the video, I fell in love with the place. Rather, the new look that the place is going to have. All I knew about Red Lobster is that it is a seafood restaurant under Darden Restaurants Inc.
Now, imagine gorging on seafood in a New England restaurant design. You know, waves crashing, gulls screeching, the taste of the sea in the wind, shells smattered about you...
appealing isn’t it? Well, this team of architects and interior designers has been inspired by the seaside village of Bar Harbor, Maine. They aim to bring out the atmosphere of the shore to compliment the food. A tall stone tower is waiting to greet you as you approach the restaurant. Outside, there are Adirondack style chairs and ship lighting. The most unique feature is the window decals which actually spell out food awaiting you inside. The signage has evolved with a new lobster and a declaration of the specialties of the joint – fresh fish and live lobsters. When you step inside, warm wood paneling and soft lights surround you. There are cozy little booths for you to slip into and enjoy your food in. Scrumptious new dishes like the Maple Glazed Salmon and Pecan Crusted Jumbo Shrimp have been added to the old favorites from the Today’s Fresh menu. Certified chefs are present to cook to your specifications. According to the head chef, the flavors are inspired from the different regions of the continent. I looked up the prices - starting from$8.99, they can accommodate any budget.
The chain will be revamped by 2014 and 33% by 2011. I really can’t wait for four years to visit this restaurant so will have to find the outlets that fall in the 33%! I’m pretty sure that one visit will not be enough. So here’s to seafood in a restaurant with a tower!
